Italian authorities have extended existing travel restrictions for travelers from Brazil until Feb. 15.

Key Points:

  • Air travel from Brazil is suspended. Entry is prohibited to all travelers from Brazil and anyone who has stayed or traveled through Brazil 14 days before attempting to enter Italy is prohibited.
  • Although Brazil is on Italy’s List E classification of countries, no exceptions are being made for entry into Italy at this time.
  • All other current travel restrictions will remain in place until March 5.

Background: Travel from Brazil has been restricted for several weeks in an attempt to stop the spread of a COVID-19 variant.

Analysis & Comments: Employers and workers should expect travel between Italy and Brazil to be strictly limited for the time being. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and Deloitte will provide additional updates as information becomes available. Please check Deloitte’s COVID-19 Digital Map, available here, for information on travel restrictions and immigration changes in other countries.
