Susan Wehrer

Sue is a partner in our Dallas office and serves as BAL’s general counsel, overseeing the firm’s legal and ethical compliance. She is also the firm’s pro bono committee chair, guiding pro bono legal services provided by BAL attorneys.

Sue concentrates her immigration practice on helping companies develop and enhance their immigration programs to meet business and employee objectives. She works with clients on issues that span the lifecycle of employees’ immigration journeys, from student to U.S. permanent resident. She advises clients on strategic immigration program management, including the implications of mergers and acquisitions as well as immigration issues facing startups.

Sue garnered extensive immigration law experience prior to joining BAL, both at a boutique immigration firm in Southern California and at a full-service firm in San Francisco. In her prior life, she practiced labor and employment law, held an editorial position with a labor and employment newsletter and taught a labor relations class.

She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has been listed in Best Lawyers since 2007. Outside of work, Susan is a casual gardener, novice guitarist and experienced dog lover.
