Since its introduction in 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has provided protection from removal and work authorization to approximately 800,000 individuals. These Dreamers are young people who have met strict eligibility criteria and undergone background checks in order to apply with the Department of Homeland Security. An estimated 700,000 Dreamers are currently working for U.S. employers.
