The French government recently expanded its online filing portal to allow more foreign nationals to submit their visa applications electronically.

Key Points:

  • Nationals of countries that are not in the EU, European Economic Area or Switzerland; spouses of French nationals; and parents of minor French nationals must now submit the following applications online:
    • Residence permits.
    • Temporary one-year cards.
    • Multi-annual cards.
    • Resident cards.
    • Related-cards for Algerian nationals.
  • Such immigration applications must be submitted through the ANEF website at this time.
  • Previously, such foreign nationals were required to submit the aforementioned applications at local immigration authority offices.

BAL Analysis: French authorities are expanding the online filing process to include more foreign nationals to reduce processing times and simplify filing procedures for those wanting to live and work in France. The French government plans to further expand online filing to include more application types in the coming months.
