IMPACT – MEDIUM
What is the change? Beginning Aug. 28, work permit applications processed by the Ministry of Labor must be submitted electronically, according to Ministry Orientation #708 (Portatia nº 708) published in Brazil’s Official Press (“Diario Oficial”).
What does the change mean? The ministry is converting to electronic processing and will no longer accept printed applications.
Background: Since December 2013, the Ministry of Labor has accepted both electronic and paper Work Permit visa applications, but will now phase out paper applications.
BAL Analysis: The order reaffirms the ministry’s commitment to simplify visa applications and improve services to support Brazilian companies that rely on foreign nationals for their workforce.
