France has tightened COVID-19 entry, testing and quarantine protocols for travelers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, India and South Africa.

Key Points:

  • Talent Passport visa holders traveling from these countries will be barred entry. They are no longer included on the list of travelers who have a “compelling interest” to enter France.
  • Travelers over 11 years of age only from any of the five countries are now required to provide (1) a negative PRC COVID-19 test taken less than 36 hours before boarding their flight or (2) a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before boarding and a negative antigenic test take less than 24 hours before boarding.
  • Travelers from any of the five countries must complete a strict 10-day quarantine upon arrival and will be asked to provide proof of their location during the isolation period. Failure to comply with quarantine measures could lead to financial sanctions.
  • Additional information is available here.

Additional Information: Travelers are reminded that even if they are coming from an EU or “green listed” third country, their travel history for the 14 days before their trip to France will be taken into account when determining their eligibility to enter France and the conditions of their entry.

Analysis & Comments: The additional restrictions will complicate travel from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, India and South Africa, and those with urgent travel needs are encouraged to work closely with Deloitte. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and Deloitte will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
