IMPACT – MEDIUM

The Brazilian government has increased the validity period of the Real Estate Investment Visa.

Key Points:

  • Brazilian authorities have increased the validity of the Real Estate Investment Visa from two years to four years.
  • Foreign nationals who currently hold a Real Estate Investment Visa can apply to have their visa extended for an additional two years.
  • Once foreign nationals have held Real Estate Investment Visas for four years, they will be eligible for indefinite residence in Brazil.
  • Real Estate Investor Visa holders must remain in Brazil for at least 14 days, every two years, counted from the day they register with the Federal Police. Previously, they were required to stay in Brazil for at least 30 days every two years.

Additional Information: More information regarding the changes made to the Real Estate Investment Visa is available here.

BAL Analysis: The Brazilian government aims to attract more foreign nationals to stay and invest in Brazil by increasing the validity of the Real Estate Investment Visa and reducing the time they must live in the country while holding the visa.
