Immigration News - Brazil Issuance of new passports suspended Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) November 29, 2022 IMPACT — MEDIUM The Brazilian government has temporarily suspended the issuance of new passports. Key Points: The temporary suspension has been in effect since Nov. 19. Online passport services continue to operate normally; however, the government is not providing processing time frames for those who applied after Nov. 18. Individuals who applied for a new passport on or before Nov. 18 will still receive it. Additional Information: Those who are in need of a new passport for emergencies are still able to apply for one. Authorities will issue emergency passports to those who satisfy emergency requirements and need the travel document urgently. More information regarding the suspension of issuing new passports is available here. BAL Analysis: The Brazilian government suspended the issuance of new passports due to a lack of funding and resources to produce new documents.
