IMPACT – MEDIUM

The Brazilian government has extended the availability of its humanitarian visa for Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Key Points:

  • Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons displaced by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine remain eligible for a two-year residence permit that allows them to live and work in Brazil.
  • Those who are eligible for the humanitarian visa can submit applications at any Brazilian consulate or while in Brazil. Applicants should bring a valid passport, travel documentation from Ukraine to Brazil and a non-criminal records certificate.
  • New applications can be made until March. 3, 2023, subject to further extensions.

Additional Information: More information regarding the two-year residence permit is available here.

BAL Analysis: Brazil is among a number of countries that have adopted special immigration measures for Ukrainians in response to Russia’s invasion of the country. Employers and employees are reminded that actions taken as a result of the invasion of Ukraine may change with little or no notice.
