Immigration News - Taiwan APRC/ARC requirements revised Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) August 17, 2023 IMPACT — MEDIUM The government of Taiwan recently revised several regulations for applying for Alien Permanent Resident Certificates and Alien Resident Certificates. Key Points: APRC applicants must now live in Taiwan for five years and stay more than 183 days per year on average. Previously, applicants were required to live in Taiwan for five years and stay for more than 183 days each year. APRC applicants who hold professional work permits may now include spouses, children under age 18, and children with disabilities on their applications if the dependents fulfill the residency requirements noted above. Previously, only the primary applicant was eligible for an APRC. In the future, the deadline for foreigners with a residence visa to apply for an ARC will be extended from 15 to 30 days after entering Taiwan. The date on which this change will take effect has yet to be announced. BAL Analysis: The changes are generally positive for APRC/ARC applicants and their families. BAL will continue following the implementation of the changes and will provide more information as it becomes available. This alert has been provided by the BAL Global Practice Group.
