Background: Argentina’s National Immigration Directorate (DNM) announced the temporary suspension in the visa reciprocity fee for U.S. citizens in March. The Argentine Embassy in the U.S. said at the time that the change was made to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. The change was made permanent, and Argentina published a decree on the matter on Aug. 22 in the Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina.
BAL Analysis: The change is welcome news to U.S. citizens who travel frequently to Argentina as they will no longer be required to pay a $160 reciprocity fee before entering Argentina.
