What is the change? Japan has imposed new re-entry requirements for foreign residents who have traveled to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Peru or the Philippines.

What does the change mean? Foreign nationals who hold a re-entry permit and have stayed in any of the four countries within 14 days prior to arriving in Japan must present a negative result of a COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours before departing for Japan and a letter confirming the submission of required documentation for re-entry.

  • Business impact: Foreign nationals holding re-entry permits who have stayed in any of the four designated countries within the previous 14 days.

Additional Information: The measures apply to foreign nationals holding the following statuses: Permanent Resident, Long-Term Resident, Spouse or Child of Japanese National, Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident, or the spouse or child of Japanese nationals and permanent residents who do not possess residence status. Diplomats and foreign government officials are exempt from the measures.
