IMPACT – HIGH
What is the change? Italian consulates are applying a stricter definition of permissible business activities for applicants seeking business visas.
What does the change mean? The permissible activities are limited to conducting negotiations, making business contacts, or verifying the functioning of equipment or machinery purchased or sold under commercial and industrial cooperation agreements with an Italian company. All other activities will be assessed by consular officials on a case-by-case basis.
BAL Analysis: Employers and business travelers should ensure that their activities fall within the limited scope of permissible activities.
