What is the change? Operations at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv will come to a halt Friday and Saturday as Israel celebrates Yom Kippur.
What does the change mean? International travel into and out of Israel will be severely limited during the two-day period. The airport will close at about noon Friday and will reopen late Saturday evening.
Background: Every year, Israel’s high holidays impact immigration processes and travel. Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is considered the holiest day of the year in Judaism and this year falls on Sept. 29 and 30.
BAL Analysis: Anyone needing to travel to or out of Israel for business or immigration purposes should note that the airport will be closed Friday and Saturday and should plan their schedules accordingly.
