Visa processes simplified for European Games

What is the change? Azerbaijan will simplify its visa process when it hosts the European Games in June.

What does the change mean? Beginning June 2, foreign nationals traveling to Azerbaijan can obtain a single-entry visa by presenting a ticket for one of the events, a passport valid for at least three months and two passport photos. Visa fees, which vary depending on nationality, must be paid upon arrival. Processes for business visas will remain the same.

Background: The first-ever European Games will be held in Baku June 12-28. More than 6,000 athletes are expected to participate. In order to facilitate spectator attendance, Azerbaijan has moved to simplify its visa regime. Visa applications will be available on flights to Azerbaijan and at the airport.

Foreign nationals accredited by the European Games Operations Committee will be able to enter and exit Azerbaijan with their accreditation cards beginning 60 days before the event begins until 30 days after its conclusion. Those directly involved in preparation for the Games will be exempt from work permit requirements.
