IMPACT – LOW
What are the changes? Normative Resolution 111 confirms the necessity of an “official term” for issuance of Trainee Visas.
What does the change mean? Candidates applying for Brazilian Trainee Visas must present a term that includes all parties.
Background: Applying for a Trainee Visa used to be a simple consular process, but now this type of visa requires documents that need to be arranged and signed by the Brazilian company and Brazilian educational institution. New Training Visa applications will now require an “official term” signed by the applicant, the educational institution and the Brazilian company where the candidate intends to work as a trainee. If the trainee program will last longer than 120 days, an additional “term” from a Brazilian entity of the educational institution will be required.
BAL Analysis: This modification presents further requirements for processing of Trainee Visas at Brazilian consulates abroad to confirm that a bona fide educational institution is signing the “official term” and to ensure that the training program will involve academic and educational gains for the candidate.
