Commercial international flight suspension extended

The government has extended the commercial international flight ban that began March 22.

Key Points:

• Suspension of all commercial flights bound for India will continue until April 14.
• The ban does not apply to cargo flights or flights granted special permission by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
• Domestic flights are banned until March 31.

Analysis & Comments: Employers should anticipate significant disruptions to employee mobility during the commercial flight ban. Public transit (trains, metros and inter-state buses) is also banned while India is under national lockdown.
