IMPACT – HIGH

The government has announced that as of March 22, all commercial international flights will be barred from landing in India.

Key Points:

  • Beginning March 22, all commercial flights bound for India will be suspended until March 29.
  • Commercial flights that take off before the ban comes into force must land in India within 20 hours, and no passengers will be permitted to disembark after 20:01 GMT on March 22.

Analysis & Comments: Employers should anticipate significant disruptions to employee mobility during the commercial flight ban. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and Deloitte will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
