Brazil | Temporary visas issued electronically for visitor visa-exempt nationals, effective Sept. 1

Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a consular update stating that nationals from visitor visa-exempt countries will be issued temporary visas electronically beginning Sept. 1, 2026.

Key takeaways:

Consulates will issue temporary visas, including work and digital nomad visas, electronically to nationals from countries exempt from visitor visa requirements.

Applicants must submit required documents through the Integrated Consular System and will receive the visa to the email address provided in the online application once approved. Applicants no longer need to submit passports and required documents in person at consular offices.
