IMPACT – LOW
What is the change? The Italian government has announced an annual work permit quota of 30,850 for 2018.
What does the change mean? The number of quotas is the same as last year’s.
Background: Each year, the Italian government issues a decree (“Decreto Flussi”) that defines the number of non-European Community workers who can be admitted into Italy for the year to be employed locally by Italian companies. The quota of 30,850 is divided into foreign seasonal work permits (18,000) and foreign nationals holding an Italian residence permit for study or seasonal work converting to a work permit for full-time employment (including self-employed and special categories).
BAL Analysis: The quotas should not have a significant business impact as they will remain the same as in 2017.
