Authorities in Myanmar have reintroduced mandatory arrival and departure cards for foreign Myanmar citizens and foreign nationals entering and exiting the country.

  • Officials reintroduced arrival and departure cards on March 1 as a means of recording personal information of people traveling into and from the country.
  • The cards must be completed upon arrival or departure at all international airports.
  • Myanmar temporarily stopped requiring arrival and departure cards in September 2018 as a means to increase tourism. Officials announced last month that the cards would be reintroduced in March.

Analysis & Comments: The change may add slightly to the time it takes to enter and leave Myanmar.
