IMPACT – MEDIUM

The Italian government has shortened time it takes to obtain certain work permits.

Key Points:

  • Italian authorities will now issue work permits (Nulla Osta) within 30 days of receiving the application instead of 60 days.
  • The shortened process does not apply to applications for Intra-company Transferees (ICT) permits, Blue Card permits or other permits for special categories of workers, including journalists, nurses, translators and researchers, among others.

Additional Information: More information regarding the shortened work permit issuance process is available here.

BAL Analysis: Some foreign nationals will begin to work in Italy earlier than expected because of the shortened adjudication times for Italian work permits. Employers and employees should take note that ICT and Blue Card permit applicants, among others, will not benefit from the shortened timeframe.
