The Italian government has increased entry and testing requirement for individuals traveling from EU and Schengen Area countries. The measures will remain in place until at least Jan. 31, 2022.

Key Points:

  • Fully vaccinated travelers intending to enter Italy from an EU or Schengen Area country must:
    • Have proof of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of arrival or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of arrival.
    • Show authorized personnel an EU Digital COVID Certificate or equivalent certification proving the individual is fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine or has previously recovered from COVID-19.
    • Complete the required Passenger Locator Form.
  • Travelers who are not fully vaccinated intending to enter Italy form an EU or Schengen Area country must:
    • Have proof of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of arrival or a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours or arrival.
    • Self-isolate for five days upon arrival.
    • Take an additional PCR or antigen test at the end of the 5-day self-isolation period.
    • Complete the Passenger Locator Form.

Additional Information: Children ages five and under are exempt from the testing and self-isolation requirements. Children between the ages of six and 17 must complete the testing requirements but are exempt from the self-isolation requirement.
