IMPACT – HIGH

The government is mandating two weeks of quarantine for all travelers entering South Korea.

Key Points:

  • Beginning April 1, all travelers entering South Korea must enter quarantine for two weeks regardless of nationality.
  • Visitors without a local address must undergo quarantine in a government facility at their own expense.
  • Exceptions exist for those entering South Korea on diplomatic or public affairs visas.

Additional information: The new quarantine policy follows the implementation last week of stricter screening procedures for those arriving from the United States. The measures require testing for travelers from the United States with COVID-19 symptoms and mandatory 14-day quarantine for travelers with no symptoms.

Analysis & Comments: Employers should anticipate employee mobility delays. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and Deloitte will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
