COVID-19: Borders will reopen to all foreign nationals Nov. 23

The Chilean government has confirmed that Chilean borders will reopen to all foreign nationals, including those traveling for business, starting Nov. 23.

Key Points:

• Foreign nationals from all countries will be allowed to enter Chile.
• Entry will only be authorized for air travel at Santiago de Chile International Airport (SCL).
• Foreign nationals must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry, and they must complete an online health affidavit upon arrival, have medical insurance that covers COVID-19 and undergo health checks.
• Until Dec. 7, all foreigners arriving from a country with high community transmission must remain in mandatory quarantine for 14 days. Chilean nationals or foreign nationals with Chilean residency may be exempted from this requirement if they have negative PCR COVID-19 test results from a laboratory (abroad or in Chile) recognized by the government.
• Other air, sea and land borders will remain closed for 15 more days for foreign nationals.

Background: Chile has been under lockdown since March and has slowly loosened restrictions. A national curfew is still in place.
