Immigration News - Chile COVID-19: Border closure and entry restrictions extended Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) July 20, 2021 The Chilean government has extended its border closure and entry restrictions until at least July 25. Key Points: Until July 25, land, sea and air borders remain closed to foreign tourists and individuals who do not have current residence in Chile. Exceptions to the border closure include: Chilean nationals and foreigners who regularly reside in Chile and hold a valid identity card or have a visa renewal or application for permanent residency in process. Travelers who are transiting through Chile and do not leave the airport. Foreign parents or children of a Chilean citizen or resident regularly residing in the country who are entering Chile as a tourist. Foreign nationals sent to Chile by international organizations to provide humanitarian aid or international cooperation as approved by the Chilean government. Travelers who are able to enter the country must complete the following requirements: Travelers must present a negative PCR test conducted within 72 hours before departure. Travelers must complete the International Health Passport and tracking form 14 days after arrival. Travelers must undergo a 10-day quarantine. Non-resident foreigners are not allowed to enter the country if they have been in a country with community transmission of a COVID-19 virus variant 14 days before intended arrival. Additional Information: Citizens and residents regularly living in Chile can choose either a transit hotel or an authorized hotel to carry out their quarantine. Foreign non-residents regularly living in Chile must quarantine in a transit hotel that was booked before the trip began.
