The Canadian government has announced that it will enhance its super visa program to help parents and grandparents stay with their families for longer periods of time.

Key Points:

  • Beginning July 4, super visa holders can stay in Canada for five years per entry instead of two years per entry.
  • Canadian authorities will begin to allow international health insurance companies to provide health coverage to super visa applicants. Currently, super visa applicants must have proof of health coverage from a Canadian health insurance company. Information regarding international health insurance companies that are approved to provide health coverage will be published on this website.

Additional Information: The super visa is a multiple entry visa and holds validity for up to ten years. More information regarding eligibility requirements and application instructions for the super visa is available here.

BAL Analysis: The upcoming super visa enhancements will allow parents and grandparents to stay with their families for a longer duration for each time they enter Canada.
