United States | New port of entry Gordie Howe International Bridge opened July 27

Authorities announced on July 27, 2026, that the Gordie Howe International Bridge (GHIB) was officially open.

In February, the Department of Homeland Security published a final rule in the Federal Register, effective March 2, formally establishing the GHIB as a class A port of entry for immigration purposes and as part of the Port of Detroit for customs purposes.

The bridge is located between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, in Canada.
