Canada | Temporary measures for Palestinian nationals in Canada extended to 2027

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced temporary policies extending work permits for Palestinian nationals already in Canada with temporary resident status and granting measures for Palestinian nationals who will arrive in Canada and have not been granted exemptions under previous public policies.

Effective Aug. 1, 2026, eligible Palestinian nationals who are in Canada with temporary resident status and currently hold an open work permit will receive continued access to open work permit extensions. The public policy applies to applications submitted through Dec. 30, 2027.

Effective Aug. 1, 2026, eligible Palestinian nationals who arrive in Canada with temporary resident status by Sept. 30, 2027, will receive access to the Canadian education system and labor market, including study permits, work permits and temporary resident permits.
