South Africa | Temporary concessions extended to March 2026

South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs extended temporary concessions until March 31, 2026, for processing waiver and appeal applications in an effort to address ongoing backlogs.

Key Points:

• As BAL reported, the concession was previously extended to Sept. 30.
• The March 31, 2026, extension applies to visa holders with pending waiver or appeal applications.
• Visa holders awaiting a decision on waiver or appeal applications may travel out and reenter South Africa without being declared undesirable, provided they carry certain required documentation. Further details are available here.

Additional Information: South Africa said it has eliminated its visa and permit regime backlogs, which were included in previous temporary concessions.
