Immigration outsourcing FAQs

Who needs immigration outsourcing services?

-Companies that need to supplement support due to small / non-dedicated in-house immigration teams, during large scale-ups of their program or transitions between providers.

-Organizations that need a best-in-class program to fill a knowledge gap from a lack of immigration in-house expertise or desire to receive support with streamlining, enhancing or auditing their program.

-In-house programs that need to address high attrition within the in-house immigration / mobility team or to temporarily backfill due to an extended leave.

-In-house teams that need to remove administrative tasks to free up time to focus on program strategy.

Who supports immigration outsourcing services at BAL?

BAL’s outsourcing program is part of the larger Client Relationships (CR) team. Program best practices are developed and managed by the Outsourcing Program Management (OPM) team consisting of the Head of Client Relationships and the Outsourcing Program Manager, with support/consultation from BAL’s General Counsel.

Engagement support is provided by the designated Account Lead and the account’s Client Immigration Representative (CIR). CIRs will most often have some immigration, legal or related experience and may at times be current or previous BAL immigration assistants and/or paralegals.

What do immigration outsourcing services look like?

The immigration outsourcing services program consists of three types of outsourcing engagements such as full-time, part-time and in some cases hybrid support. The type of outsourcing engagement BAL ends up providing can depend on a combination of the following:

-Access – Access to client internal networks will impact the level of scope the client can outsource to BAL.

-Support services – Services provided will vary depending on coverage hours, expertise and location of the Client Immigration Representative. Some services may be limited to administrative support to ensure the program remains in compliance with government regulations.

-Engagement period – Engagements shorter than our standard 12 months may not be directly supported by a Client Relationships team member and may require hybrid support from a legal team member.

-Expertise – The required immigration subject matter expertise will determine the seniority and function of the role. Aside from the Client Immigration Representative, BAL can provide manager or attorney level resources.
