Immigration News - Global mobility, Europe, Ireland Ireland | Increased employment permits quota for transport sector Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) April 11, 2025 The Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment announced an increased quota of employment permits for car mechanics, HGV and bus mechanics and vehicle body builders and repairers. Key Points: The quota for car mechanics has increased by 200, the quota for HGV and bus mechanics by 200 and the quota for vehicle body builders and repairers by 50. These increases were made to address skills shortages in Ireland’s transport sector. The changes came into effect on April 7, 2025. Additional Information: Ireland’s policy is to promote the sourcing of labor and skills needs from within the workforce of Ireland, the European Union and other European Economic Area states. Ireland’s employment permit policy is part of the response to addressing skills deficits that exist and are likely to continue into the medium term.
