Immigration News - Japan COVID-19: State of emergency ended, travel restrictions updated Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) June 22, 2021 The Japanese government has ended the state of emergency for a number of prefectures but continues to bar most non-resident foreign nationals from entering the country. Key Points: The state of emergency ended on June 20 for the following prefectures: Aichi, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Hokkaido, Hyogo, Kyoto, Okayama, Osaka and Tokyo. Quasi-emergency measures will remain in effect until at least July 11 for the following prefectures: Aichi, Fukuoka, Hokkaido, Hyogo, Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo. Okinawa prefecture remains in a state of emergency until at least July 11. For the time being, foreign nationals who have stayed in 159 countries and regions within 14 days prior to the application for landing will be denied entry to Japan except in exceptional circumstances. Applications for entry visas for those traveling from these countries will not be processed at this time. Additional information on Japan’s COVID-19 entry restrictions is available here.
