BAL has one of the largest immigration teams dedicated to Form I-9 employment verification and E-Verify compliance and program management. The Compliance Advisory Legal Services team is led by government legal experts who helped develop the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services I-9 Handbook for Employers M-274.
BAL’s Compliance Advisory Legal Services team conducted an internal audit of I-9 employment eligibility verification forms for a multinational IT company when the COVID-19 pandemic presented new compliance challenges. After auditing the I-9 forms and examining the client’s policies and procedures, BAL identified how the company could correct potential violations on specific I-9s to reduce liability in the event of a government audit and provided steps for strengthening its compliance program moving forward.
BAL has successfully represented clients in connection with Form I-9 audits and E-Verify compliance reviews. Case highlights include:
We have the resources and expertise to handle a range of government audits and inquiries, including, but not limited to, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Form I-9 audits and investigations, U.S. Department of Justice Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER) discrimination investigations, E-Verify monitoring and compliance desk and in-person audits.
