President Barack Obama announced on Aug. 28 his intention to nominate Sarah Saldaña to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Saldaña is currently a prosecutor, serving as a U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, and previously worked in private law practice. She has also clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and has worked at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She earned her law degree from Southern Methodist University.

The position of ICE director has been vacant since John Morton resigned more than a year ago.
