The Japanese government has extended entry restrictions and lowered the daily arrival cap for Japanese nationals and foreign residents.

  • Authorities have extended the suspension of the new entry of foreign nationals until at least Feb. 28.
  • Authorities have paused the special entry “screening certificate” process until further notice.
  • Individuals who are allowed to enter the country will no longer qualify for quarantine exemptions or reductions.
  • Authorities reduced the daily arrival cap from 5,000 to 3,500, including Japanese nationals and residents.

Additional Information: Authorities have lifted the travel ban for those traveling from Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
