What is the Brexit news? The Italian government has announced legislative measures that would protect British citizens currently residing in the country in preparation for a possible no-deal Brexit. The legislative measures would ensure that British citizens residing in Italy would remain legal residents and be given enough time to apply for long-term resident status in accordance with EU Directive 2003/109/EC. Under the measures, British nationals would continue to enjoy rights such as access to health care, social benefits, employment, education and family reunification.
BAL Analysis: British citizens living and working in Italy are advised to register with their local town hall before March 29 if they have not already registered.
