What is the change? Argentina’s immigration authorities have indicated that they will ease some recently imposed document requirements for foreign employees applying for visas.

What does the change mean? Employees transferred to Argentina as intra-company transfers will generally not be required to present payroll receipts, but employees who are on a local contract will still be required to submit the receipts.

  • Implementation time frame: Immediate and ongoing.
  • Visas/permits affected: Intracompany transfers (23e) visas; Local contract (23a) visas.
  • Who is affected: Companies sending foreign employees to Argentina from an overseas affiliate of the same corporate group.
  • Business impact: The change eases some of the documentary requirements that have recently been imposed on foreign employees.

Background: Immigration authorities recently began requesting additional information from applicants. Although there was no official announcement of additional required documents, officials have been requesting additional documents, such as payroll receipts, under their discretionary authority.

BAL Analysis: Applicants should be aware that the DNM is undergoing a staffing reorganization and that changes to procedures and document requests remain subject to discretion; therefore, the rules may continue to change with little notice.
