Vanessa Macedo MacRae

Vanessa is a Senior Associate in BAL’s Denver office, representing corporate clients in complex U.S. business immigration matters. She oversees key aspects of case strategy and program execution, applying extensive experience across a broad range of employment-based immigration processes, including PERM labor certification, adjustment of status and L-1, H-1B, E-3 and TN visas.

Prior to BAL, Vanessa practiced at a national business immigration firm and represented a diverse group of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to startups across healthcare, technology, engineering, finance and more. She also handled high-volume caseloads and led complex PERM programs. Additionally, she presented key updates to stakeholders on immigration policy, compliance trends and program strategy.

Vanessa is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is actively involved in the AILA Colorado chapter, organizing and participating in professional development initiatives and community engagement activities. Throughout her career, she has also had the opportunity to serve as a mentor to her peers.

As an immigrant herself, Vanessa was drawn to immigration law through personal experience and a deep understanding of the life-changing impact of the immigration process. She approaches each case with strategic thinking and genuine care, recognizing that behind every petition is an individual and a family.

Outside of work, Vanessa pursues new challenges and maintains an active lifestyle. She has completed multiple marathons — including two World Marathon Majors — as well as triathlons. Vanessa likes spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Rio and Lua.
