On Jan. 20, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order (EO) titled “Securing Our Borders.” Section 7 of the EO directs agencies to “terminate all categorical parole programs that are contrary to the policies of the United States established in [President Trump’s] Executive Orders, including the program known as the “Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.”
On Jan. 20, 2025, President Trump also signed the “Protecting American People Against Invasion” EO. The EO requires government agencies to ensure the parole authority is exercised on “only a case-by-case basis.” It also directs the agencies to review the country determinations for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
