Zambia, Angola to launch visa-waiver plan

What is the change? Zambia and Angola have agreed to implement a visa-free travel arrangement between the two countries.  

What does the change mean? Zambian and Angolan nationals will be able to visit each other’s countries without first obtaining a visa. The arrangement is expected to allow tourists to stay in each country for up to 90 days in a 12-month period and to allow business visitors to stay in each country for up to 30 days in a 12-month period.

• Implementation time frame: Ongoing. The agreement should go into effect after each country confirms it by completing all required country-specific legal formalities.
• Visas/permits affected: Visa waiver/exemption.
• Who is affected: Zambian and Angolan nationals traveling between the two countries.
• Impact on processing times: The change will save individuals the time it takes to obtain a visa before travel.

Background: The agreement was announced during Angolan President João Lourenco’s recent state visit to Zambia. The two countries also announced several other agreements to strengthen trade and development.
