Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., as secretary of homeland security in a 54-45 vote. The White House later announced the confirmation on X and the Department of Homeland Security issued a press release. Former secretary Kristi Noem will be assigned a new role as the “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas — Western Hemisphere.” President Trump previously stated that Noem’s last day as secretary of homeland security would be March 31, 2026.
