TPS extended for Yemen Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) March 3, 2020 The Department of Homeland Security has announced it will extend temporary protected status (TPS) for Yemen for 18 months. Key points: Yemen TPS will be extended 18 months, effective March 4, 2020 through Sept. 3, 2021. Current Yemen TPS holders must reregister during a 60-day period from March 2, 2020 through May 1, 2020. Eligible applicants who reregister and apply for an employment authorization document (EAD) during the reregistration period will be issued a new EAD with a Sept. 3, 2021 expiration date. To avoid lapses in employment authorization during the reregistration process, DHS is automatically extending valid Yemen TPS-related EADs for 180 days, through Aug. 30, 2020. BAL Analysis: Employers should be aware of the extension of Yemen TPS status and the automatic extension of eligible EADs.
