COVID-19: Non-essential travel advice to be lifted

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will lift its recommendation against non essential travel after Oct. 1.

Key Points:

• Beginning Oct. 1, Norway will return to assessing non essential travel recommendations on a case-by-case basis.
• The Norwegian government will post a list of countries for which travel recommendations will apply after Oct. 1 on this website.
• More information on travel restrictions and advice can be found on the new Norwegian government travel app, Reiseklar (Travel Ready).

Additional Information: Travel restrictions against non essential travel have been in place since March 2020. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ recommendation is not mandatory and is not a ban on travel; however, travel insurance may not be honored if the individuals do not follow the advisory warnings.

BAL Analysis: The Norwegian government is lifting restrictions on non-essential travel as part of its gradual reopening. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and BAL will provide additional updates as information becomes available.
