Immigration News - Japan COVID-19: Predeparture testing requirements implemented for travelers from mainland China Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) January 10, 2023 IMPACT — MEIUM The Japanese government recently implemented predeparture testing requirements again for travelers coming from mainland China. Key Points: As of Jan. 8, individuals traveling directly from or who have been in mainland China within seven days before intended arrival must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken before departure. The requirement does not apply to individuals who have been in Hong Kong or Macao. Acceptable testing methods can be found on the revised testing certificate website. Those traveling to China via an indirect flight can show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 instead of taking a predeparture COVID-19 test. Additional Information: Travelers from China will continue to be required take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Japan.
