Immigration News - Canada Diplomats Expand Strike to Include 15 Busiest Consulates Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) July 29, 2013 A major strike is causing significant delays at 15 of the busiest Canadian foreign missions. The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) announced on Friday that the strike now includes Abu Dhabi, London, Paris, Shanghai, Beijing, Mexico City, and New Delhi, among others. The union expanded the strike after a breakdown in negotiations with the federal government. PAFSO estimates that visa processing is significantly down at the consulates targeted by the strike. The strike currently impacts embassies and consulates in: Abu Dhabi, Ankara, Beijing, Cairo, Chandigarh, Hong Kong, London, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow, New Delhi, Paris, Riyadh, São Paulo and Shanghai. Clients are advised to file as early as possible and consider delays when hiring in countries affected by the strike.
