Immigration News COVID-19: Quarantine waived for travelers vaccinated in EU, US Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) August 4, 2021 IMPACT – MEDIUM The U.K. government has announced that as of Aug. 2, travelers to England who have been vaccinated in Europe or the U.S. no longer need to quarantine upon arrival. Key Points: The quarantine waiver applies to travelers arriving in England from amber countries who have been fully vaccinated in the EU/EFTA or the U.S. with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency of Europe, the Food and Drug Administration of the U.S. or by the Swiss vaccination program. Vaccinated travelers from the amber countries must still complete a pre-departure test before arriving in England and a PCR test on or before day two after arrival. Separate rules continue to apply for those arriving from France. Travelers from all countries still must complete a passenger locator form. Additional Information: Testing requirements for certain critical workers who do not mix with the public or leave their vehicles have also been relaxed. BAL Analysis: This forward move is the result of a second review by the UK’s Global Travel Taskforce, which first recommended the “traffic light system” of categorizing countries as red, green or amber based on their risk for spreading COVID-19, as BAL reported in April. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, and BAL will provide additional updates as information becomes available. This alert has been provided by the BAL Global Practice group.
