The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi is issuing some business and tourist visas with a shorter validity period than the normal 30-day duration. What does the change mean? The policy is unofficial and is being applied on a case-by-case basis. Implementation time frame: Immediate and ongoing. Visas/permits affected: Business (M) and tourist (L) visas. Who is affected: Indian nationals applying for Chinese business or tourist visas. Business impact: Companies should anticipate that employees may be given a shorter visa validity by authorities. BAL Analysis: Chinese business and tourist visas are normally issued for stays of 30 to 60 days, depending on the consulate. As this policy was unannounced, further changes should be expected.
