Immigration News - Canada COVID-19: Travel restrictions reduced, testing requirements to be increased Share this article LinkedIn Facebook X (Twitter) December 20, 2021 IMPACT – MEDIUM The Canadian government has removed its entry restrictions for travelers from South African countries and will increase its testing requirements for all travelers. Key Points: As of Dec. 18, travelers from Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe can enter the country. Beginning Dec. 21, travelers, including Canadian citizens, leaving the country for less than 72 hours must have proof of a negative PCR test taken in a country other than Canada to enter Canada. Previously, Canadian citizens, permanent residents and those registered under the Indian Act did not have to provide a PCR test if their trip was less than 72 hours. Additional Information: Individuals traveling to Canada continue must submit all required information, including proof of vaccination in English or French and a quarantine plan, via the ArriveCAN app before arriving in Canada.
