Applicants may submit new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) beginning Aug. 17, 2026. Key takeaways: The Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will open to new ROIs on Aug. 17, 2026, and will issue weekly invitations to apply for nomination beginning Aug. 20, 2026. For the 2026-27 program year, 2,050 nomination allocations for permanent or provisional residency are available: 1,250 nomination places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) 800 nomination places for Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) Weekly invitations will be issued progressively throughout the year alongside program updates, including the number of ROIs submitted, ROIs invited to apply, the lowest scores invited and nomination places available. Migration Tasmania also announced program updates for the 2026-27 program year, including: Simpler wording for applicants to better understand priority attributes and eligibility criteria Revised priority attribute scoring to recognize longer contributions to Tasmania Greater differentiation of available points based on duration of employment Updated policy guidance for periods of leave New TSE Gold priority attribute requirement of at least 30 hours per week in at least one job to qualify Updated income attributes to Australian median and average earnings and the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold Higher service fee of 387 Australian dollars (about US$273) to apply for nomination Applicants may submit ROIs and nomination applications on the new domain of the Migration Tasmania Application Gateway portal, set to open Aug. 17, 2026.
